This is a character in a short movie I’m working on and off. He’s entirely rigged and animatable.
Here are some renders of the knight, using Mental Ray (as part of Maya). The light setup is quite simple; one spotlight on the left, one spotlight on the right!
It uses Global Illumination (but so slightly it’s almost not noticeable), and Final Gathering (which helps a lot). The purpose here is to get a “neutral” studio lighting on a white backdrop. Render time is about 35 minutes.
